Professional Make-Up Tips 1: Eyes

  • Dark and Dramatic To get dark and dramatic eyes, use a kohl pencil to outline top and bottom lashes. Then apply a black liquid liner to the top lashes only.
  • Define Eyebrows We all like to have great eyes. To define your eyebrow arch apply white eyeliner to the line just below your eyebrow and blend.
  • Eyeliners There are pencil eyeliners, liquid eyeliners, and cake eyeliners. Pencil eyeliners can be used above the top lashes or under the lower lashes. Pencils can be smudged for a subtle look. Liquid eyeliners must only be used above the top lashes. Cake eyeliners should be blended with water for use on both the top and bottom lashes.
  • Eyeliner Brushes and Application For a liquid or cake eyeliner use a fine brush; this will help your eyeliner stay on the better. Pencils work well too. To apply eyeliner, hold your head back, look down into the mirror, and then apply the eyeliner. Using this application method will keep your eyelid skin tight so it's easier to make a smooth line.
  • Eye Shadow Brushes and Application Purchase a long-handled natural flat-bristled brush to apply eye shadow. Eye shadow is applied on the eyelid with the flat end of the brush. The edge of the (brush) tip is used to apply shadow into the crease of the eye.
  • Eye Shadow Tips Use one neutral eye shadow all over and use a dark eye shadow as eyeliner. Apply it into your lashes with a small brush. This will look softer than a pencil (less harsh for day).
  • Use Mascara for Bigger Looking Eyes Apply mascara to the top and bottom eyelashes for 'bigger eyes'.
  • Eyebrow Upkeep To keep your eyebrows neat with a temporary removal system, you can wax or tweeze your hairs away. If you want a permanent removal, electrolysis is the best, with only around 1 in every 10 hairs extracted growing back. A consultation with an electrologist is needed and you can locate them in reputable beauty salons or in the phone book.
